What’s CGS
Formed over 12 years ago, CGS as a company supports its members’ guarantees by arranging for them to be insured, at the request of the customer, by Millburn Insurance Co Ltd, a UK based FSA authorised and regulated insurance company. A small one-off fee can buy insurance for up to 20 years for remedial timber treatment, damp treatment, wall ties and lateral restraints, up to 12 years for Shire Piling and up to 10 years for structural waterproofing* and QuickBase.
All CGS contractors are independently vetted and only contractors showing a high degree of technical competence, full knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations to protect the customer and financial stability over several years or have been otherwise financially approved, are eligible for membership and able to offer the security of insurance.
CGS offer insured guarantees with an insurance certificate specific to your property and issued by an FSA authorised and regulated UK insurance company. 70% of all contractors go out of business within 20 years and, though CGS contractors are considerably below the national average, because of the quality of the contractors allowed into membership, for a very small one-off premium you can insure against even this eventuality.
All CGS contractors have achieved what are probably the hardest approval standards in the industry, ensuring that members have an enviable position within the industry. They are held in the highest respect amongst specifiers, local authorities, housing associations, church councils and national institutions.

WARNING
Many contractors offer “insurance-backed” guarantees but this is invariably an annual insurance in the name of the guarantee company, does not relate to your property and if the annual fee is not paid then no protection is in place. (See Frequently Asked Questions No. 4)
