Specialist Structural Waterproofing Group

Structural waterproofing is the waterproofing of structures partially or wholly underground often (mistakenly) referred to as Tanking.

A structure would be ‘partially underground’ if, for example,  it was built into a hillside with the front of the building being on ground level, and a structure could be ‘wholly underground’ if, for example,  it was a deep basement.

There are many ways, or combination of ways, to waterproof such structures, from the application of waterproof rendering to the application of plastic membrane either inside or outside the building. The precise method chosen by our specialist contractors will depend on many factors, such as ground water pressure, vibrations being experienced (eg near a main road), the condition of the substrate and the availability of drainage, to name but a few.

Structural Waterproofing is a specialist subject, so all our members are required to have fully qualified surveyors and operatives.
